M'at Thew

Or, Matthew, as I'll call him from now on out, since that's the name I would have used if I would have been allowed to enter it, was the next character I played, a Sith Warrior. Unlike the Jedi, who run around pretending like and claiming that they aren't warriors, the Sith make no such claims, so I tend to feel happier putting them in armor. Plus, the Darth Vader prototype kind of makes that seem more natural, or something. As with all of my older characters, I've played around with all kinds of concept looks that I've since discarded, but most of them have at least one or two vintage looks that hearken back (sometimes with a minor modification of gloves, boots, or pants, etc.) to one that I used extensively while playing. In Matthew's case, I've got several.

Although the lighting isn't ideal on Korriban for taking these snapshots, I think that it certainly gives the right atmosphere, and if you can't see every little detail, you'll live.

Looking beyond Star Wars to Space Opera X, although I don't have anything at all like the Jedi Order that I'd use, the Shadow Knights associated with the Seraean Empire are not terribly unlike the Sith Order in some ways, except less moustache twirling and cartoon villainy. Certainly they have a fearsome reputation across the galaxy. They're more like the original concept of the Sith from earlier drafts of the first movie; a band of black knights or space pirates, or maybe bad samurai; rivals to the Jedi, but not yet the anti-Jedi supervillains that they became.

This not only shows off my Vaderesque uniform, with the bigger, spikier helmet, but also his lava-colored lightsabers. I've had this look for quite some time; ever since I qualified to wear that helmet (although I had the rest of the outfit almost from the get-go with a different placeholder helemt) and I consider it one of his personal most iconic looks.

This is the second most iconic Matthew look; the "Sith hoodie" as I call it, with a gas mask. I've actually updated the gas mask to a more recently acquired one since playing through this character, but that's a very minor detail. You'll see here his swashbuckling lightsabers with a pseudo-basket hilt look, too. I've had those for some time, and since I created this long before cosmetic weapons were a thing, he just uses them all the time.

Keeping in mind that Lucas' original conception of the Sith Order from back in 1975 or so was that they were a band of bad samurai who were rivals of the Jedi, or he sometimes specifically uses the word pirate to describe them, I decided that a piratey looking Sith Lord wasn't out of the question. I got this after playing through (couldn't even get the pirate had until Rishi, obviously) but I use it a lot now when I'm doing stuff with this character.

The last of my really iconic, older outfits. Now, granted—I couldn't buy or wear this until I was pretty high level, but as I said with Graggory, I got to high level early in the game, and was able to wear this for a long time.

I had an outfit that looked a lot like one of my Mark outfits, so I decided to phase it out. The Dantooine pirate event was going on at the time, so I thought it would be fun to try and recreate a Dantooine pirate outfit, and run around pretending like I was one of them. Of course, the game engine isn't smart enough to recognize that ploy, so it was just a gag on my part. But I actually kind of like this Dantooine pirate imitation outfit.

This is a more recent one, although I'd been trying to find a mask that had the right look for some time. My newer Sith Lord will eventually get a concept outfit much like this one, although probably not with the short-sleeved robe, which is one of the curious affectations that lots of jackets/chestpieces in this game have.

I've always thought it a good idea to have a bounty hunter or Mandalorian-like outfit for my Sith Lord, so he can look a little more informal and less intimidating. Although I've played around with some, including one that looks, like I said earlier, too much like my "Jedi Knight bounty hunter" I've more recently settled on this one. I crafted the high level dye module that gives it its striking color myself; Matthew is my Artifice crafter too.

Another concept for a Sith pirate, complete with cyberpunk-looking eye patch. I don't love this one, but I haven't thought of anything cool to replace it with, and I don't want everything to look like a space black knight in armor either. Nor do I want him to just sit around in black robes all of the time.

Another heavily armored alternative.

And my last one is another heavily armored alternative. Given that the Sith Warrior concept is kind of "the black knight" of Medievalist or Arthurian vintage, except in space, I think the heavily armored ones look good on him. In fact, I'm pretty sure I have more heavily armored options for him than for any other character except perhaps my original trooper. I don't even like to armor up the bounty hunters this much.
